The Study on the Efficacy and the Safety of Zithromax^(¢ç) in The Pediatric Respiratory Infectious Disease

Abstract

|
This paper presents the result of clinical trial concerned with the efficacy and safety of Azithromycin in the pediatric patients. The dosage schedule for azithromycin(Zithromax*) was 10mg/kg, in a single daily dose, administered for three days consecutively in the pediatric patients with respiratory. tract infections, such as acute bronchitis, acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis and acute otitis media. Clinical assesments were performed during and after therapy. At day 3-5 after treatment 90% of patients were clinically cured or improved and 10% were failed. Adverse events, generally mild, were reported in 10% of the patients whom complained of gastrointestinal events such as diarrhea and vomiting. No patients discontinued the study because of treatment related side effects. The results of this study indicated that once daily Azithromycin for three days approved to have acceptable efficacy and safety.
